On April 18th, my friend Nancy and I went on a photography field trip with the Merrimack Valley Camera Club (which I am a member of) to Sturbridge Village. We had a great time not only getting some great shots, but getting to know some of the members I only knew by name. The weather forecast called for clouds and rain, but we lucked out. The clouds diffused the light and prevented the harsh shadows usually associated with shooting midday, and the rain held off until later in the evening. After a full day of shooting, about 25 of us went to the Publick House in Sturbridge for an absolutely fantastic meal. It was expensive, but worth every penny!

This image of the sawmill, with all of its warm brown tones, lent itself well to split-toning.
I can't believe I got the shot of the musket firing! This man was so patient and shot the musket over and over and over again so that our group could try to catch the fire coming out of the gun. I was one of the lucky few who got it.
It was so awesome to catch the steer grooming each other. A bunch of us tried to get a shot that looked like a kiss, and after some cropping and vignetting, I was able to produce this image.
We tried to get the same kind of shot with the horses, but they never actually touched noses. I like this image with their heads turning toward each other. Its funny, whenever I do a shoot and look at the images when I get home, my first reaction is disappointment. It isn't until later when I'm carefully looking at each image, do I see that some are actually diamonds in the rough, just waiting for me to envision what they can become.
