Arriving in Maine

Thursday, January 1, 2009

With little to no traffic on the roads, we made very good time up to my inlaws' house, which is in a small town outside of Bar Harbor, Maine.   Cilla did a wonderful job decorating the house (these pictures do not begin to do it justice).

The tree was cut down from their yard and decorated Swedish style.  You cannot tell from my pictures but the ceiling in the living room/dining room is about 25-30' high, and this tree is much larger than it appears and looked lovely all lit up.

This was a Swedish "puts" that Cilla made in the fireplace.  It is similar to a Nativity scene and each day the kids "puts" new animals and pieces into the scene.  This is classic Cilla, and we love that she introduces us to long-ago traditions that we would otherwise never learn about.
