Cape Cod Escape

The weekend after Jay's birthday, my inlaws took the kids for a sleepover at their house so I decided Jay and I should take advantage of time alone and have a little weekend escape.  We found a hotel in Hyannis with great off-season rates and an hour and a half later we were on the Cape.  We arrived at our hotel around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and had a drink in the hotel bar while we figured out what to do.  After getting advice from the bartender, we took a drive down to Kalmus Beach and walked around, but it was really windy and cold.  We also got a recommendation for a good restaurant for dinner, but ended up in Yarmouth before we realized we weren't going to find it.  We did find a nice Italian restaurant with great food, but I think Jay was disappointed we didn't find the Brazilian Grille.  While getting lost, we found a bowling alley that was open and we bowled a couple of games of ten-pin.  Jay won the first game and I won the second, but I had the overall highest score so I got bragging rights!

We headed back to the hotel bar, which I just loved.  It was very modern and trendy like something you'd find in Boston, and best of all nearly empty.  So we grabbed some seats near the big-screen TV and watched the U-Conn men's basketball game and played Pigmania.

Great picture taking weather!

The next morning Jay and I decided to take a drive around Hyannis before heading back home.  We found this private beach and walked along it before realizing that we had stumbled into the Kennedy compound area.

We actually thought this house might be the Kennedy compound but Google Earth showed us that this is the Gap CEO's house, and the Kennedy compound is just to the right of this house.  We thought about taking a walk down the beach to see it, but figured calling the inlaws to bail us out of jail might make any future sleepovers questionable.

It was a great weekend and the scenery was nice but your pictures make it look stunning. You get better everyday Chris!
