Many of you have already heard me complain about the spring soccer schedule. For those who haven't, I'm at the field Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Ugh. The thing that makes it so much worse is the fact that I swear the field is a gateway to hell, or something like that. No matter what temperature it is at my house, at the field it's guaranteed to be either freezing cold and windy, stifling scorching hot, or full of gnats and mosquitos. I think in all the years I've been taking the kids to soccer, there have only been one or two pleasant days at the field, and at the time everyone thought it must be a sign of the apocolypse.
Tyler plays for the intown soccer league so all his games are on Friday night here at the Tewksbury field. His first game was last Friday night, and I was happy with how well both teams played and that it was a good competitive game. It's always exciting to see the kids go from just running aimlessly around the field to actually playing the game. Tyler's team won 5-4 and Tyler even scored a goal!

Raine plays for the travel soccer league. Her game was early Saturday morning here in Tewksbury, and the weather was freezing cold and rainy. For practices the kids can bundle up as much as they want, but for games they have to wear the uniform and there is only so much bundling one can do. These girls were cold! Raine had sprained one of her fingers during Thursday's practice so she wasn't able to play goalie. Usually she and Haylie switch off playing goalie or defense. For this game, Raine played defense and back-up to the forwards, and she even scored a goal. The coach is now going to keep her playing back-up :) Her team won 5-3.
One of the things I love about Tewksbury's soccer league is the fact that I have yet to encounter any diva parents or players. The teams play as teams and are competitive, but good sports. I think this is especially notable among the girls in Raine's age group. The fact that they care about each other as friends and teammates comes across in so many of my photos and reminds me why having the kids be involved in soccer is such a very good thing!

I am laughing so hard right now! I totally agree about spring sports. Here in Vegas, it is either hot or windy and cold! There is no middle ground. It can be great all week, in the 80's and then the weekend comes and the weather sucks! Even during track, the weather can be great all day and then at the meet, it is windy. It is crazy in the spring.
